Sprinkled Christmas Sunshine

Highway 2, Idaho
Highway 2, Idaho

It is a busy time of year, with endless lists, parties, and holiday celebrations to plan and prepare for. In the busy, sometimes it is easy to forget what the season is really all about.

Dark clouds hung low on a recent trip into town this week. Suddenly, light sprinkled through the clouds and settled on the tops of the trees, lighting the world with color and a burst of joy.

In the moment, I imagine Joseph and Mary on their journey 2000 years ago, wondering what the future would hold for them with the birth of the baby Mary carried. Birthing the child in the manger, a dark, stinky place, I'm sure darkness and fear weighed on their hearts. Suddenly, the skies opened, and angels began to sing and proclaim the birth of Jesus to lowly shepherds. who came to tell Mary and Joseph of their words. The true LIGHT of the World had come, and He was announced with light and worship!

My heart was filled with light and worship today in this moment, too. The LIGHT of Jesus came 2000 years ago, and His joy still brightens the world and my pathway today. No, I didn't see any angels today, but my heart burst forth in praise!

This is how He comes to us today - in our moments of darkness, He brings light and fills our hearts with worship.

Luke 2:13-14 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.

Joy to the World, our Saviour has come! May your heart be filled with the sunshine and joy that He came to bring, and may praise to Him be on your lips in this season of remembering His birth!
